Description
The second piece in the If Super Smash Bros was Realistic series I'm doing in my free time c: This idea was proposed by
Swordsmen (and Kirby) in Super Smash Bros will full-on slice through opponents with several of their attacks, and those who are hit by it get launched instead of falling to pieces. Pretty sure that's not how it works in real life, so now Mario's getting a taste of reality while Kirby probably doesn't know what he's doing
On a production note, there was a lot of studying going on in regards to lighting. I didn't feel like a lot of my drawings properly captured how light actually strikes objects, so I made sure every grey object had some kind of color. I was also a little more careful with shadows (that wasn't enough to make me want to draw Kirby's shadow on Mario though). Just to make it look more interesting I added a kind of cinematic glare hitting everything from the left. Not sure if that's how space works, but oh well. Drawing space was fun though. A lot of brush presets and motion blurs.
By the way I've been listening to the Kirby and the Rainbow Curse OST for about a month and a half now and I'm still not tired of it. It's too good for that.
Check out the one other piece in the series c:
